https://www.facebook.com/groups/grandviewhockey Hello everyone, We know that some of you have already received your information packages via mail while others may still be pending. Within each package is a "CREDIT" slip for 40% of your paid registration. Along with a registration form for next season and a self-addressed envelope for ease of return. Grandview Recreational Hockey League is operated by volunteers, both on and off the ice. We work hard to ensure a quality recreational hockey program exists for all kids who want to play hockey. This shortened season was a very challenging one, as we were only able to play hockey for two and a half months. This was directly related to the impact of the Covid 19. Covid not only shortened our season but significantly impacted it in other ways as well. This included restrictions on the number of people attending the rink, pre-screening, controlled entry and exit times and no dressing rooms. As a result, registrations numbers were down, and we were restricted as to how many players could be on the ice each hour (25 as opposed to 32-34 players). This season also saw a decline in the number of corporate sponsorships shared with the League. Unfortunately, several operating costs such as league insurance, telecommunications, website, printing, advertising in “Key” remained the same. Other expenses directly related to operating, are the number of hours of ice utilized in a season (i.e., ice rental and refereeing). The league executive considered all these factors, in determining and establishing a credit for the cancelled portion of the 2020-2021 season. You have TWO (2) options related to the credit package: 1) you may maintain the credit with the League towards next year's registration. The remainder of the registration fees (based on registered division) would be required at time of registration for the 2021-2022 season. (You can complete and mail it in or bring it to one of the registration sessions in September). 2) you may request a refund cheque - simply call the League line at (807) 768-1429 and leave your contact information so we can arrange for the return your child's jersey and issue the refund cheque. We are hopeful that by the fall, the Covid situation will improve to a point where the 2021/22 season will run (in a near normal capacity). If for some reason we are unable to operate next season (i.e., due to COVID) OR you decide in the fall not to register your child for the upcoming season, a refund will be issued. If you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to contact the League line (807) 768-1429. In closing, we are always looking for help both on and off the ice, (volunteer, as a coach, a convener, executive member or a sponsor)! We hope to see you all next season. As you all know, we are facing a challenging hockey season. To help speed up entry into the rink and potential contact tracing the City has provided a screening questionnaire which must be completed the every day, and time, you or your player attends Grandview Arena. Please go to the attached link for the questionnaire. www.thunderbay.ca\rfst Once the questionnaire is completed, the City will send you a confirmation e-mail which you need to show or provide in order to access the Arena.
